Acquired from Slough Estates where it may have lived its entire life. Little is known about the livery it carried in its time there, although it may have been all-over black. The current livery was reconstructed from an official photograph of a similar Charles Roberts vehicle.

This vehicle received some remedial attention during 1999, including repairs to its timber underframe and a full repaint. It sees occasional use in demonstration goods trains on Society open days.
