How to Find Us

On Arrival

28/9/23 Please note that as of the beginning of September, work has commenced on building an access ramp which will be suitable for use by wheelchair users. We will update progress as this develops.

The entrance to the Railway Centre is through the ticket hall of Didcot Parkway mainline railway station.

Please advise the GWR ticket barrier staff at the mainline station that you are visiting Didcot Railway Centre and they will open the barriers to allow you access. (You may need to show your Railway Centre tickets when you exit the main station after your visit).

Walk straight through the modern subway and continue into the original subway, built to allow enginemen to get to work at the locomotive shed.  The old-style flight of stairs leading from the subway will take you to the Railway Centre entrance and ticket office.

Visitors with limited mobility and wheelchair users should consult our Accessibility Guide when planning a visit and call 01235 817200 for further information. Currently there is no way of getting into the museum witout using the steps.

Didcot is 53 miles west of London, 10 miles south of Oxford and almost halfway between London and Bristol on Brunel's original Great Western Railway.

For more public transport information see Traveline.

By Car

The Railway Centre is signposted from the M4 (junction 13) and the A34, follow the brown signs to Didcot Railway Centre.  It can also be accessed from the M40 and A34. Take the turning for the Milton Interchange.

If you are using a satnav to find us, please do not use the satnav address for Didcot Railway Centre as this will take you into the middle of a housing estate, separated from us by the main railway line.

We do not operate our own car parks, however, there are three options available for use. The main railway station multi-storey car park (Foxhall Rd) is the only one that takes card payments (None of the nearby car parks now accept cash and the other two can only be paid for via RingGo).  This car park is your destination if you follow the brown signs to Didcot Railway Centre. The car park does not have a postcode - We recommend using What3Words to find this car park.  The road leading to the car park entrance can be found at www.what3words.com/caves.wades.slanting - see the What3Words website for more details of their service and to download the app.

From the car park, leave on foot, via the covered walkway from Level 2 which leads to the front of Didcot Parkway station.

Two alternative car parks are situated directly opposite the main station itself. The postcode needed for these is OX11 7NR. These car parks only accept payments by app or phone using RingGo. THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CASH OR CARD PAYMENTS. If cash or card are your preferred method of payment, please use the main railway multi-storey car park (Foxhall Rd) as described above.

Please enter the main station and advise the GWR ticket barrier staff that you are visiting Didcot Railway Centre and they will open the barriers to allow you access. (You may need to show your Railway Centre tickets when you exit the main station after your visit).

Parking for Blue Badge holders is available near the station entrance. Visitors with limited mobility and wheelchair users should consult our Accessibility Guide when planning a visit and call 01235 817200 for further information.
