Living Museum of the Great Western Railway

No 2202 - Hawksworth Brake Third

Built by Metropolitan-Cammell in 1950, this vehicle has been a regular performer at society open days.

The vehicle was originally preserved in 1969 on the Severn Valley Railway and was subsequently moved to Didcot in 1976.

Internally it has been restored to as built condition, including re-upholstering to the first post-war pattern. Although a number of these coaches have found their way into preservation, this is the only example to retain a largely original interior, all other survivors were heavily stripped upon entering Departmental service.
