Local Great Western Society Groups

The Great Western Society has local groups which organise meetings and events in the Bristol, Oxford, South West (Torbay), Swindon and Taunton areas. The groups also support the Society by undertaking practical work at Didcot or locally and through the vital elements of fundraising and local publicity.

Bristol Group

Chairman: Robert Heron
Secretary: Robin Jordan E-Mail>>

Group Events:

Bristol Group Meetings are held on Tuesday at, BAWA, 589 Southmead Road, Filton, BRISTOL, BS34 7RG (Phone: 0117 987 3244, Web: www.bawa.biz) 19:30 for 19:45 and all are welcome.

Bristol Group has now cancelled all meetings booked for the 2020/2021 season, including April and May 2021. Beyond this point the situation is being kept under review.

Based on the Government's Roadmap, BAWA advised that they hope to re-open on 21st June. Accordingly, our usual room has been reserved for the entire 2021/2022 season and we hope to resume meetings in September. Most speakers booked for 2020/2021 have agreed to move to the new season. In particular, Brian Arman has agreed to his usual January slot to take us onward from Exeter to Penzance on the Broad Gauge and if you missed Amyas on his recent Peter Gray Zoom session he should be visiting us in April 2022.

If all goes to plan we anticipate releasing the new programme soon after the June update from the Government.
