Locomotives

Engines under restoration or overhaul are looked after by a specific project group, supported by the general maintenance team who keep the running engines in working order and the Non-Operational Locomotives Group who make sure that the rest of the locomotive collection is cared for. Whether you are skilled, unskilled or simply interested in engineering, a machinist, a fitter, a welder or can lend a willing hand to clean/assemble/paint/make tea, you can make a difference. We can provide appropriate training.

Current projects include:

  • 4079 Pendennis Castle (Project leader - Drew Fermor). The Group meets fortnightly.
  • 3650 (Project leader - Kevin Dare). The Group meets fortnightly.
  • 1014 County of Glamorgan (Project leader - Dicky Boast).
  • 7202/3822 "The Heavy Freight Mob" restore and maintain the large goods engines
  • W22 Diesel Railcar (Project leader - Jim Parker) maintain and operate the Diesel Railcar
  • Locomotive Maintenance Team (Project Leader - Leigh Drew)
  • Non-Operational Locomotives Group (Project Leader - Richard Preston)

Ready to get involved, let us know that you'd like to help and we'll get in touch!
