More Ways To Help Us Raise Funds

The Great Western Society (Registered Charity Number 272616) was set up in 1962 to preserve, restore and operate, locomotives, rolling stock, and other equipment and artefacts from the Great Western Railway and its successors.  The greater part of that collection has created Didcot Railway Centre.

There’s several easy ways for you to help raise funds for the Great Western Society.

The 231 Club

The 231 Club exists to collect donations from Great Western Society members specifically to fund Carriage and Wagon projects not normally covered by the annual budget.

The Club allocates numbers, for a donation of £60 per number per year. Prize winning numbers are drawn  at intervals during the year. 18 prizes of £100 are awarded each year, with two Christmas prizes of £500 each.

Fancy a Flutter?

We have partnered with the South Oxfordshire (SO) Charitable Lottery to raise funds.  Each SO Charitable Lottery ticket costs only £1 and 50p from each ticket goes straight into our funds. Each ticket has a 1 in 50 chance to win with a top prize of £25,000 so, next time you fancy a flutter, why not help Didcot Railway Centre at the same time?

Shop Online and Raise Funds

If you shop on-line, you could help us financially at no cost to yourself.

Easyfundraising is a shopping directory listing some of your favourite online stores. Just use the links on the easyfundraising site whenever you shop online and, at no extra cost to you, we'll receive a free donation of up to 15% from every purchase you make. It really is that simple!

Search the Web and Raise Funds

You can also raise funds when you search the web - with easysearch. When you search the web with easysearch instead of Google or any other search engine, you’ll raise funds for us with every search you make. Just like easyfundraising it’s completely free to use and if you make just 10 searches a day, you could raise £20 a year - or more - for us, just by switching to easysearch.

What’s more, easysearch is a super search engine that combines the strengths of several search providers together and tracks down the most relevant and accurate results from across the web.

Why not try out easysearch and use it every time you search the web?

So far, at no cost to ourselves, we have raised: £405.04

Have you Considered your Legacy?

Over the years the Great Western Society has received a number of legacies/bequests and has been asked to provide suitable wording from members who wish to make bequests. A Legacy Guide (845kb .pdf file) has been prepared to assist those who may wish to make such bequests.
