Pre-arrival information- standard

Our staff and volunteers work hard to ensure visitors have a safe and enjoyable day.

Please Note:

    • If you have had contact with anyone infected with the Covid-19 or feel unwell, please do not travel, contact us and we will change your booking without charge.
    • Please arrive within the timeslot you have booked. Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before the time shown on your booking and please try to arrive no later than 30 minutes after the time shown on your booking. If you are a little later, we will accommodate you, but the booking slots are in place to spread arrival times and keep queuing to a minimum.
    • You are welcome to stay until we close at 4.00pm.
    • Please have your original e-ticket ready to show staff. Please also bring your membership card if you’re a member, or carer's ID if you have booked a carer's ticket.
    • On arrival at Didcot Parkway Station, please show your ticket to GWR staff who will then let you through the barrier. Please note: the Government expects and advises that face coverings are worn in crowded areas and public transport settings so you may wish to consider wearing one as you walk through GWR's Didcot Parkway Station. Walk through the subway and straight ahead into the original steam age subway that leads to the Centre.
    • Head up the stairs to the Railway Centre entrance.
    • On arrival, please show your tickets and collect a Site Guide.
    • The Government recommends that all adults check in using the NHS Track & Trace App - posters with the QR code are displayed near the site entrance.
    • Hand sanitiser dispensers are located near the entrance and at key points throughout the Centre.
    • We are using vintage carriages with individual compartments so each group can have a compartment to themselves whilst on the trains. We suggest that you alight from the train at the Centre's Oxford Road station at the far end of the site and explore the Centre. You can walk back through the Centre, return on a later train or change trains and travel back on the Branch Line.
    • All of our facilities have now re-opened – you may wish to consider wearing a mask in enclosed, indoor areas.
    •  You can step across the tracks around the   Centre but do not cross the fences onto the demonstration lines. You can only do this at the Museum — never on other railways.
    • Please do not climb down into, or jump across, the inspection pits.
    • Children must be supervised at all times.
    • Please listen to the briefings from staff and please do ask questions.
    • Dogs on leads are very welcome.
