We are a very dynamic team and are always looking for new people to join us. We have a number of areas where your valuable time could be put to good use and we are quite certain you will enjoy your time with us.
On average we are privileged to host around 2000 children per year.
New volunteers would begin by accompanying one of our experienced Guides with a group of 15/20 children - There will be a point in time when you feel comfortable to lead a group on your own, but that point is up to you.
If you would like to move on from guiding maybe you would like to be a Presenter - It is up to you! A knowledge of railways or history is NOT needed - just a willingness to learn and to work with children.
We operate a Young Volunteers (YVs) programme and are looking for people to help us.
Wherever the YVs work in the Centre they must be supervised by two adults. These roles do not need any specific qualifications just a willingness to work with teenage children. At the present time it is ONE Saturday per month.
Our YVs will continue to build our G Gauge model railway which will resemble a Welsh Mountain railway as we are working with Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales to use their branding. Keeping to this same theme we have a real Slate wagon which will be completely refurbished as an exhibit.
The Education Team are responsible for creating interpretation and exhibitions around the centre. There is plenty of scope for improving and adding to what already exists.
We are looking for people who are creative and imaginative.
We need people to look after our interpretation around the centre.
This might be painting, it might be creating a panel to house interpretation.
Whatever you feel comfortable doing.
