Oxford High Prep School 'Evacuated'

 

Stepping into the shoes of World War II evacuees, with handmade gas mask boxes and identity tags in hand, the students learnt what life was like during wartime Britain.

 

From waiting anxiously on the station platform to be chosen by a local family under the watchful eye of a strict Billeting Officer, to learning about the importance of the blackout, and having the opportunity to pack a 1940s suitcase, the day offered a fascinating insight into the past for the young historians.
