Join us on 9th or 14th December for an exclusive performance of 'A Christmas Carol' performed by Gerald Dickens.

We are delighted that Gerald will be back to Didcot Railway Centre for a fourth year after sell out performances in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Gerald is an actor, author director and producer and is the great great grandson of the author Charles Dickens.

In 1993 he created his first one-man show, a theatrical performance of A Christmas Carol inspired by Charles Dickens’ own energetic readings of the 1860s.

A fascination with the life and works of Charles led him to write and direct further one-man shows including Mr Dickens is Coming!, Nicholas Nickleby and Sketches by Boz. He regularly performs in major theatres and arts centres as well as at hotels and stately homes.

He also appears at several arts and literary festivals in the UK and has been entertaining cruise ship passengers worldwide since 2007.

You'll need to arrive for 5pm and gather in our patio area for transporting down to our transfer shed where the performance will take please. The performance will start at 6pm, so don't be late!

There'll be a short interval and we'll transport you back up to the cafe where warming mulled wine and mince pies will be served, during which time Gerald will be available to talk to you about his experiences.

After the performance, there'll be a chance to shop as our gift shop will be open. Gerald will be on hand to sign copies of his books 'Dickens and Staplehurst, A Biography of a Train Crash' and 'My Life on the Road with A Christmas Carol', which make perfect Christmas gifts.

The evening will end at approximately 9pm.

Please note to dress for the weather. Although the transfer shed is under cover, it is outside, so warm clothing is advised. Hand warmers will be provided.
