Vintage Cars and Buses, Traction Engines and Steam & Diesel Trains - Sunday May 22nd
In conjunction with Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust, we are holding our fifth Transport Rally between 10am and 4pm on Sunday 22 May 2022. At the Didcot Railway Centre, we will have both steam and diesel trains offering unlimited rides, all our exhibits will be open and there will be some additional activities available. Admission ticket(s) for Didcot Railway Centre can be purchased in advance (from our website), or from our Ticket Office on site.
The Transport Rally static vehicle display will be at the Lady Grove Park, Didcot. Entrance to the static vehicle display is free and there will be a vintage shuttle bus service between the Static Displays and the Didcot Railway Centre.
Visitor parking is available at the normal car parks as shown on the Didcot Railway web site.
Attractions:
At the Railway Centre, in addition to the usual attractions, there will be:
This is a Steam Day, so you will be able to view our collections of locomotives, coaches, wagons and buildings and enjoy the various facilities and exhibits.
Discover Brunel's Broad Gauge and the 1930s Engine Shed. Visit the GWT Museum and our restoration workshops. Watch the modern passenger and freight trains from our Picnic Area.
You can walk around the only surviving steam age loco depot in its original condition, and get up close to our large collection of Locomotives which are so much more impressive when seen from ground level. Why not explore the rest of the centre and discover painstakingly restored buildings, coaches and wagons and learn more about the development of railways and how they changed everyday lives.
There's a chance to get hands-on in The Signalling Centre where you can find out how trains have been controlled through the ages and visit our shop and refreshment room?
In addition, you will be able to:
Check our Locomotive Roster to see what we expect to be running on your next visit.
You can buy tickets online at any time prior to the day of your visit - or buy them at the entrance on arrival.
