No 116954 - 'Asmo' Motor Car Van

‘Asmo’ was the GWR telegraphic code for a vacuum fitted covered van for transporting cars (The code thought to be derived from ASsembled MOtor cars). They had end doors and drop down flaps so that when a train of these vans were in use, cars were able to drive along the train to unload.

116954 was one of 80 similar vehicles built in 1930 to diagram G26 for transporting cars - a larger version of the 'Mogo'. Asmos would be a common sight around  Didcot as they were used for both MG at Abingdon and Morris at Cowley.
