No 47 - Riding Van
4-wheel Riding Van. These vehicles formed part of breakdown trains providing accommodation for the breakdown gang. They were usually paired with a Tool Van such as No.135 and based at the larger locomotive depots in case of emergency. They were vacuum-braked to permit fast running to the scene of accidents and breakdowns.
