A hands-on event introducing children to the world of steam locomotives and railway engineering. Open to children aged 5 and upwards. Each child must be accompanied by one responsible adult, with a maximum of two children per adult.
Start the day in the atmospheric 1930s Engine Shed with an engaging, interactive talk by Chris Vine, author of Peter’s Railway
Chris will also lead a workshop exploring how steam locomotives work (approx. 1 hour)
Children will then split into two groups of 10 (plus accompanying adults) to explore either:
The Workshop and Turntable, or
The Coal Stage and Signalling Centre
Enjoy a ride behind a real, working steam locomotive
Access to the railway museum, children’s play park, shop, and catering facilities
