John Plant

John is a career railwayman of 20 years working on stations in the outer Thames valley area, as well as acting as a staff representative for the union, and as such has a focused on safety. He has been an active volunteer at the Railway Centre for over 25 years mainly working in the carriage and wagon department which has led to a lot of research into the history of the GWR in order to get a high level of historical accuracy in his restoration work, as well as an interest in the greater historical railway operations.

The combination of real life railway experience and the knowledge gained from historical research gives him a strong factual foundation in the guidance offered, helping to keeping the museum both a safe and honest representation of the GWR.
